Youth Justice Committee Volunteer

Youth Justice Committee volunteers help young people move through and past a minor offence by holding them accountable without holding them back.

Every young person deserves a chance to learn from a mistake without it defining their future. Youth Justice Committees bring together caring community volunteers who work with youth, their families and victims to respond to minor offences in a way that’s fair, meaningful and restorative. By volunteering, you help young people take responsibility for their actions, repair the harm they’ve caused and move forward with the support of their community.

Real Talk

“I feel proud because our committee has been so successful. The seeds you sow make a difference in the crop you grow.”

Youth Justice Committee

As a Youth Justice Committee Volunteer you will:

Impact a young person’s life by empowering them to have a voice; increase their accountability; develop self-awareness, all with the goal of avoiding a formal youth record and developing positive relationships with adults in the community.

Help families by considering their needs as well, providing additional resources to address family difficulties and ensuring cases are handled expediently and efficiently.

Support victims by providing an opportunity to express how the crime has affected them and offer restitution, if applicable, to help repair the harm that was caused.

Improve the community by having a positive impact on reducing youth crime.
